Griffith Hack announces four promotions, including two principal elevations

Griffith Hack is proud to announce the promotion of four team members, including the elevation of Dr James-Robert Cram and Kerry Dick to principal. These promotions are effective from July 1, 2023.

Along with James-Robert and Kerry, John Scicluna has been promoted to senior associate and David Braund promoted to associate.

Dr James-Robert Cram – Principal
James-Robert is a patent attorney in our Chemical and Life Sciences team. His technical expertise lies broadly in chemistry and biotechnology, having completed his Bachelor degree studies with a double-major in chemistry and biochemistry, and then going on to complete PhD studies in medicinal chemistry with research in natural product synthesis for pharmaceutical and agricultural applications. Specialising in patents, he gives strategic advice – whether in preparing patent specifications, implementing domestic and international filing strategies, developing patent freedom-to-operate pathways or patent enforcement and defence. Kerry Dick – Principal
Kerry is a patent attorney in our Engineering & ICT team, with formal qualifications in automotive mechanical engineering. She practices predominantly in the fields of mechanical engineering, machinery and medical devices, with particular expertise in automotive design. She has extensive experience patenting mechanical inventions ranging from small gadgetry and tools to large scale machinery. Kerry has over 13 years’ experience working with some of the world’s leading car manufacturers including Land Rover, BMW, Mini, Chevrolet and GM Holden. See Kerry’s bio here.

John Scicluna – Senior Associate
John is a patent attorney in our Engineering & ICT team with a background and formal qualifications in materials science. John’s experience in the private and research sectors enable him to work across multiple areas of technology. See John’s bio here.

David Braund – Associate
David is a patent attorney in our Engineering & ICT team, who joined Griffith Hack following a career as a design and mechanical engineer for two leading Australian medical device companies. David’s experience, including that as an inventor for several medical device products, ensures that he understands the challenges and opportunities of his clients. See David’s bio here.
