Matthew McTiernan is a patent attorney based in Melbourne.

Matthew specialises in mechanical engineering patents, with a particular focus on mining, construction, packaging, and medical technologies. Prior to joining Griffith Hack, Matthew worked in engineering roles in the UK and in Australia, analysing and modelling hydraulic systems and advising clients on pumping equipment selection. His engineering experience has provided him with a strong foundation in engineering principles and practical applications.

Matthew also worked as a Patent Examiner with IP Australia. This role provided him with a deep understanding of the patent examination process. His experience enables him to anticipate what Examiners look for in patent applications, ensuring that his clients’ intellectual property is well-protected.
