Dr Tim Fyfe is a patent attorney based in Melbourne.
Working in Griffith Hack’s Chemical and Life Sciences Group, Tim’s practice spans the breadth of chemical and biological inventions with a particular focus on pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals and chemical processes. This includes drafting and prosecuting patent applications, providing opinions on patentability, infringement and validity, advising on prosecution strategies, and portfolio management.
Tim has always had a passion for innovation and the commercial side of research, and has a keen eye for identifying, extracting and protecting innovation in its various forms to suit the desired commercial outcomes of individual clients in key trading jurisdictions globally. He currently works with several ASX-listed biopharmaceutical companies, including those specialising in dendrimer-based therapeutic and imaging/diagnostic technologies and small molecule agents for therapy of neurodegenerative conditions.
Before becoming a patent attorney, Tim worked as an industrial chemist in the radiopharmaceutical sector synthesising diagnostic tools for imaging cancer, and as a research scientist investigating the medicinal chemistry and molecular pharmacology of agents targeting G protein-coupled receptors for therapy of central nervous system disorders.
Tim also had a successful PhD program, during which he published research articles in leading international journals on anti-psychotic agents and received the Vice Chancellor’s Commendation for Thesis Excellence.
