Megan Cole

Dr Megan Cole is a patent attorney based in Melbourne.

Megan is technically qualified in chemical and biological engineering and has extensive experience in polymer chemistry, including in polymer synthesis, cross-linking, mechanical characterization, surface functionalization, cellular encapsulation, and 3-D printing. Before entering the IP profession, Megan trained as a postdoctoral scientist where she gained further experience adapting polymers for specific biological purposes, such as biosensors and biomimetic scaffolds. During this period, Megan was awarded multiple prestigious fellowships and regularly published her research findings.

As an Australian and New Zealand patent attorney, Megan works closely with clients at both the domestic and international front to provide strategic advice across the IP life cycle. Her experience ranges from patentability and/or freedom to operate advice, to drafting, routine patent prosecution, patent enforcement, and even litigation support. She is skilled in crafting legal arguments to support her client’s commercial interests and loves applying her extensive scientific research background to helping clients achieve commercially desirable outcomes.
