Shannon Fati is a lawyer, registered Australian Trade Marks Attorney and Special Counsel based in our Brisbane office.

Shannon is an established and experienced practitioner with an eye for detail. Shannon’s diligent and client-focused approach means she consistently adopts a thoughtful and commercial approach to the way she works with clients to achieve effective strategies and outcomes. Shannon’s experience extends to all areas of trade mark prosecution and strategy (Australia, New Zealand and internationally), including brand searching and clearance, trade mark filing, prosecution and registration, and trade mark portfolio management and advice. Shannon also has extensive experience in acting in trade mark oppositions and removal proceedings, and general dispute resolution. 

Shannon has worked with several well-known Australian and international brands across many industries including a repertoire of international household names in the entertainment, fashion, vehicle, food and beverage and toy sectors. Shannon also values her local client base having worked with some quintessential Australian brands for many years.  

Shannon’s experience is unique in that her career started as a Trade Marks Examiner at the Intellectual Property Office of New Zealand. This gave her a unique insight into the workings of the government and trade mark processes. Shannon uses this knowledge and experience daily to achieve positive outcomes for clients in trade mark matters in Australia, New Zealand and internationally  

Shannon is consistently recognised in renowned trade mark publications, including Managing IP’s IP Stars and the WTR 1000. Shannon was also nominated for the Special Counsel of the Year award in 2023 as part of the Lawyers Weekly ‘Women in Law’ Awards.  

Shannon is a member of the Intellectual Property Society of Australia and New Zealand (IPSANZ) and the Institute of Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys of Australia (IPTA). She is admitted as a solicitor in Queensland and New Zealand.
