Dr Mitchell Nothling is a trainee patent attorney based in Melbourne.
Mitchell has a diverse background in industrial chemistry and materials science, spanning industry and academia. He brings a wealth of commercial experience in industry and ongoing training in intellectual property law within the Chemical and Life Sciences Team at Griffith Hack.
Mitchell holds a PhD in chemical engineering from the University of Melbourne and has published research broadly in synthetic organic chemistry, catalysis, polymer engineering and enzyme technology. In addition, Mitchell has led independent research programs at the University of New South Wales and Denmark Technical University, developing new polymers and bioprocessing techniques in collaboration with several leading international companies and government organisations. Mitchell has expertise at the interface of new chemical research and commercial translation, assisting clients to accelerate their inventions from the lab bench into the market.
Prior to completing his PhD, Mitchell worked as a chemical engineer for a global mining company, both in processing plant operations and research and development for mineral processing. Mitchell’s broad, international expertise in chemistry, chemical engineering and enzyme technology means that he is well-placed to assist clients in refining, protecting, and developing their inventions for commercial success.
